CASACOM’s Top Three Communications Stories of the Week

Were you too busy to read about the latest trends in social media or missed some news in the communications world this week? No need to worry. You can read our three favourite PR and communications stories of the past week to catch up.

Tablets:

According to the latest report from Media Technology Monitor (MTM), nearly half of Anglophone Canadians 18+ now own a tablet; this is up from 34% one year ago.

Samsung has been doing a better job at getting consumers to use its Galaxy Tab device, however it still has a long way to go before taking over the iPad (it’s the device of choice for many consumers); iPads are now used by 29% of Anglophones. Tablets are used for a variety of activities as many of you know. Accessing the internet (89%), sending/receiving e-mail (69%) and reading online news (54%) were a few activities that were rated the highest.

Women in PR:

Have you ever wondered why women dominate the PR industry? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up 63 percent of PR specialist roles and 59 percent of PR management positions. However, many believe that there are not enough females at the C-levels. So why are there more women working in PR than men?
