An Successful All-University Forum

Challenge

In 2013, the nine universities of Montreal and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal (BTMM) appointed CASACOM to develop an integrated communications strategy surrounding the first Montreal Forum: University Metropolis event.

The goal was to demonstrate the important contribution of the universities to the development of Quebec in this first-time concerted effort taking place on the eve of a higly attended Higher Education Summit from the Government of Quebec.

A detailed oriented framework and tight deadlines was a necessity given there were 10 clients involved!

Strategy and Activities

We developed a strategic communications and issues management plan, along with a tactical timeline of activities.

Wrote several analytical notes, media materials including press releases, and prepared thoughtful key messages and Q&As for the co-spokespeople of the Forum.

Managed all media relations efforts from beginning to end.

Brokered interviews, as well as prepared key co-spokespeople.

Launched a social media strategy and detailed editorial calendar, using the hashtag #U9MTL.

Followed stringent project management procedures and never deviated from the overall goal.

Results

Generated positive press coverage of over 44 media mentions and articles, reaching a range of 22 million impressions.

Became a trending topic on Twitter (319,470 views on Feb 4).

Helped attract 500 attendees and raised awareness of the decision-makers and influential people.
