Karine Sauvé
Director, Corporate Communications
Wanting to learn is one of my innate characteristics. It is what motivates my choices, makes me advance, makes me grow. The desire to dare, to forge ahead, to step off the beaten paths, knowing perfectly well that the experience will be enriching and has always characterised me.
This thirst for learning carried me towards a university education in French literature. What better than the humanities to learn about history, politics, psychology, philosophy, and… humankind. My B.A. and my master’s in literary studies from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) allowed me, of course, to develop my knowledge, but also to instil a work ethic motivated by intellectual rigor.
After my studies, a grand adventure began, an adventure that contrasted radically with the university setting and literary studies: federal politics. Why politics? To experience something new, to become familiar with another environment, other people, to learn—yes, to learn. Over a period of about ten years, I occupied, in turn, positions as a parliamentary researcher, senior press agent for the head of the Bloc Québécois in Ottawa, and finally director of press relations for the party head.
Not only did I become familiar with the workings of the Canadian parliamentary system and the major political issues, but also, and above all, I became familiar with strategic communications. Media relations, strategic advising, drafting communication tools and hard-hitting key messages, information sessions with spokespeople on the moment’s hot topics—I have indulged in all of the knowledge and experience they have to offer. In short, these years spent in the political world allowed me to acquire the knowledge and experience that is very precious to me in my work at CASACOM.
CASACOM is a logical step for me: exciting challenges, stimulating clients, and complex and engaging mandates. It is a true rendez-vous with achievement.
And you: does the flavour of a challenge, the taste of learning guide your professional and personal decisions?
